Conference Room
The Design
Users who enter the conference room first arrive in the cosily designed hangout zone. There, they can familiarise themselves with the virtual environment without being immediately confronted with a task. At the same time, the relaxed atmosphere allows for informal initial contact with the other participants in the session. The aim is to create a fundamentally positive and relaxed social space.
Simple interactions with the virtual world can be tested using the existing coffee machine. In later updates, the Hangout Zone will be expanded with additional features to make the experience even more interactive.
Once participants have familiarised themselves with their surroundings and each other, they can enter the workspace. There they will find a large conference table with up to 10 workstations that can be used for collaboration. This part of the scenario is designed to be much more neutral in order to avoid distractions and promote productive work. The chairs are usable and can be used to enable the use of VR while seated without disturbing the sense of presence (e.g. due to unusual avatar postures). This can help to prevent motion sickness and therefore enable longer stays in VR for effective collaboration.
The implementation of several productivity tools for collaborative work will offer exciting opportunities for cooperation in upcoming updates. Among other things, plans include a split screen for sharing browser content, as well as synchronised drawing tools and more.
